Hi Ida, It's so good to hear from you! I'm so glad that you are making progress with tapering your Prednisone! Very good! Maybe the PMR is leaving you. Let's hope so! My rheumy has told me to stay at 10 mg of Prednisone until my next appointment with him the second week of September. Then, he wants to talk to me about going on Methotrexate. He isn't sure if I still have PMR, or if it's the beginning of RA, since I have had new symptoms of swelling and pain in a few of my fingers, as well as bad pain in my right elbow, each time I have tapered below 10 mg of Prednisone recently. Also, I have had a new pain in the ball of my left foot. These symptoms are under control now, with the help of 10 mg of Prednisone! My doctor said that these new symptoms generally aren't the kind that occur with PMR, but on rare occasions, they might. He ran a series of blood tests to see if there is evidence that something other than PMR is going on with me, but my results were normal. At the time of the tests, though, I was taking 10 mg of Prednisone, so that could contribute to the normal results. Prednisone masks things. Methotrexate will help me get the Prednisone tapered, and if I do have some RA, it's a very good drug for controlling that. Let me know how your doctor visit goes, Ida. I look forward to your post! I'll keep my fingers crossed that you continue to do well on your taper! Shar
