Hi Ida, I'm so glad that your slow taper is doing the trick! That is good news! It will be interesting to find out what your doctor has to say about your progress when you see him next month. My next doctor appointment is next Wednesday, the 23. I'm eager to find out what the next step is. I've managed to taper down to 12.5mg on the Prednisone, but I did have that bad relapse about 5 weeks ago, and I was forced to go up to 17.5mg. I'm pleased that I am at least on a slightly lower dose than I've been on for the past 6 months! I was on 15mg for a long time. Enbrel does seem to be helping me with the taper, but I have to go slower than we thought. It seems to be pretty common for people to have to taper very slowly on the Prednisone. Maybe, it's because I've been on it for almost 3 years, and my body is very sensitive to changes in doses now. I don't blame you for being concerned about the length of time you have been on Prednisone, and I have that same concern, but we haven't much choice. Hopefully, as you taper, your eye pressure will go down. My pressure is just under 20 for both eyes, which isn't too bad considering I've been on the Prednisone for so long, and at medium to high doses. I hope your doctor is giving you something to preserve your bones from further weakening. Are you taking something like Fosomax and extra calcium? I'm on estrogen and that has been helping my bones so far. Take good care and post soon. I look forward to your posts, Ida! I hope you keep feeling better! Shar
