Hi Shar- It's so good to hear from you. Glad to hear that you are feeling better with the Enbrel. It seems that is the right Rx for you. I guess the doctors have to try what they can, but should listen to the patient. Here's something new to think about with Prednisone and a high white blood cell count. (A high white count usually shows infection). Since January when my white count went way up- three doctors- my former one, my Rheumy and even my new doctor seemed to think it was caused by the Prednisone. (In October the count was normal.) And since Jan. I have three bad bouts of some sort of GI illness. Last week, with the latest one, I went to the ER and the ER doctor was concerned about the white count. I saw my new doctor, who ordered a urine culture- which was positive. It seems I have had a kidney infection and the high white count was a symptom, but overlooked because of Prednisone! I am on an antibiotic and feel much better, but am having some MRIs to check out kidneys, etc. I'm still on 8 mg of Prednisone and will stay on it until I feel better and hopefully until after my trip to see my daughter and grandchildren later this month, then I'll try a taper again. My other Rx's are Lipitor, Zetia, Protonix, Darvocet, Actenol and calcium. Sorry for the long story, but I thought it important to mention the white count and it is not always connected to Prednisone. Hope you stay feeling better and enjoy a great summer. I look forward to your posts. Best wishes, Ida
