I'm so sorry to hear you have developed RA. It seems to me you have suffered enough!! My husband's daughter announced via email yesterday that she had been diagnosed with RA. I hope the new drugs help her as she is an artist and needs her hands for her living. I have tapered down to 2 mg prednisone and then this month dropped another 1/2 mg. I don't like to bother my rheumy but had to call the clinic the other day for a new prescription for Fosamax. She called me and said she wanted me to have a blood test since it had been awhile. The following day I did and the day after she called and said the sed rate was 1. I couldn't believe it. I also told her about dropping down to l 1/2 and got a lecture about tapering without her approval. She said if you are feeling okay stay on that dosage until the beginning of June then we will do another blood test. She said she didn't want a flare to come back. She also said that once I was totally off of the prednisone to be sure and advise everyone, doctors included, that if I needed surgery to be sure to have them give me a booster shot of prednisone and that time span was a year and a half. Last year I had a quadruple bypass plus two surgeries for an aortic abdominal aneuyrsm and the surgeons had to give me a booster shot of prednisone although they didn't like doing it saying it delayed healing. Well, I have made it thru so far and think my PMR may be on it's last legs. I can wish the same for you. Kay
