Hi Suzanne, I can totally relate to you and your trouble. I am experiencing the same thing with my 2 year old son. He turned 2 last week and he's yet to utter his first word. He babbles occasionally and makes sounds that can be mistaken for a kitten or a puppy. He, just like your son has excellent reception. He'll point to pictures in a book and he'll listen to instructions. He learns to play with toys after being showed how it works one time. He's the happiest kid in the world, he just wont talk. He didnt walk till 16 1/2 months and he's a little late on all other milestones. He too has a clumsy pincer and fine motor skills, although they've improved tremendously. We've been working with a speech therapist for a few months and just this week she said " apraxia ". Monday is my son's 2 year check up so I"m anxious to hear what his dr. says. Im very curious how they can tell the difference between apraxia and a normal speech delay. I'm going to ask my dr. that question on monday. Please, email me if you have any more information. Also, send me your email address so I can contact you directly. stay strong....... LoriBar@aol.com
