My daughter has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder since she is 3 years old. I went to north shore hospital and had a complete psycholigical workup done on her. She was also diagnosed with manic depression at 3 but not on paper because of her age. Children with ADHD are extremely smart. Some symptoms are: overly intelligent but bored easily, constantly needs something challenging to do, motor skills are slow (my daughter is 8 years old and still has training wheels on her 2 wheeler; just learning how to throw a ball straight), difficulty concentrating, forgets what she is doing from one room to another (but can load software on a computer since she is 4 years old), has tunnel vision (if something is done a certain way in school, she cannot do it any other way at home). Check into ADHD. I do not have her on medication either because I feel doctors are prescribing meds to "control" behavior instead of teaching parents what the behaviour of a "special" child is and how to "deal" with that child productively.
