Dear Suzanne, I know exactly what you are feeling. My son is 27 months and we still don,t have a doctors diagnosis. He has been in early intervention since he was 18 months he gets speech therapy 1 day a week and ot for a brachial plexus injury he recieved at birth. Needless to say I have just recently switched his peds dr. and the new one has directed me to 2 programs that are run by dr's. The first one I am going to see on 9/18/01 the other one in november. My son also has the symptoms of dyspraxia which a speech pathologist informally diagnosed him with 3 weeks ago. He also was having a bad day and I mean horrible he pooped through his diaper all over his clothes (I had no spare diapers with me, running late )he was exhausted I had my 8 month old with me and he was miserable and my older boy was scared. She evaluated him for 1 hour and after he started throwing stuff because she wouldn't let him do what he wanted to do (typical 2 year old stuff) she told me to bring him to a center to see a developmental psychologist at a center for kids with pdd and autism. Now my son was denied into the program after being evaluated. I know what you are going through. Find a good program at the closest hospital and have him evaluated again! The problem with children with issues is that the medical field does not like to diagnose children especially kids under 3. Get your self the best pediatrician you can because that can also make a difference for you. please try some signlanguage that is helpful to keep frustrations down. My son knows 10 or more signs for everyday needs.Concentrate on using the words he already knows even if it is 1 word try not to bombard him with too many words.I hope that I have been helpful I am still learning I am new to this disorder and to the family of people like you. Remember you get your best advice and answers from people like me and people that have been through it before. My saving grace is my pediatrician and my INSTINCT'S keep your chin up you are not alone.
