Suzanne, I have a 5 1/2yr old, a 3 1/2yr old and a one month old, all boys. The two older ones have been diagnosed with sensory intergration disorder. My 3 1/2yr old (travis) babbles alot and has alot of problems making his words clear enough for anyone other than myself and my husband to understand. While my boys are in speech, we also work with them with some tips we got from their therapists. If you want to see if any of these help give them a try. See if your little boy can pick up a cotton ball while sucking on a straw or let him have a really think milk shake and suck that through a straw. We also use bubbles, bubble gum and I even try to get them to see if they can touch their nose with their toung. I know these sound silly but anything that helps strengthen the muscles in their mouths seems to help. If you want to e-mail a specialist in this area try this website www.helpingyourchild.com Good luck and feel free to write me if you want.
