Our son is 2 years old. We thought he was autistic,too. We had just moved back home and we did not have a pediatrician, so we went to the family pediatrician. Thank God we did. Our Dr. really listened to us. She spent 1 hour just listening to us and filling out a form to see if our baby had autism. She said no but she sent my son to a Speech Therapist, a Psychologist and for an Audio Evaluation (Hearing). The pyschologist said that my son was your typical 2 year old and the audio evaluation came out fine. We are attending Speech Therapy and they suggested that our son needed Occupational Therapy. They needed to get his attention before they could work with the speech delay. My son is a mouth breather and his tongue at times hangs out. So in our therapy we are trying to push his tongue back in and we are massaging his facial muscles so they can tighten up. with the three weeks that we have been attending, we have seen an improvement and our son is starting to repeat some words. He recognizes 3 letters of the alphabet. So don't give up. I hope this will help.
