Christi Morris
Hi, my name is Christi Morris and I have a 4 year old daughter who has been going to special education classes since she was 3 and she has yet to be diagnosed. From the time Kasidi was 2 we noticed that she could not speak. We went to her doctor several times to address this concern and he would only say that its too early to tell and to give her more time. Meanwhile I had started the ball rolling with outside therapy and enrolled Kasidi into our city's public school system ECSE program which provides OT, PT and speech therapy. She is making marked progress with OT and PT but her speech is still unclear. When I say unclear I mean you cannot have a conversation with her and the only three words you know she is saying without question are mommy, daddy and jakey (her little brother). Sometimes she will say things and then I will never here them again. To this day her doctor now believes Kasidi has a problem and referred her to a neurologist who was wonderful and did not jump to conclusions about Kasidi's condition. Kasidi just had an MRI which came out perfect. So the next step is a follow up appointment with her neurologist at which time I plan to bring up the possibility of dyspraxia since that seems to be the only thing I have ever heard of that covers all of Kasidi's problems. Thanks for listening.
