I am a school nurse in Oregon, and we have found "Hair Clean 1-2-3" to be the best product for killing the lice. It is an organic, natural product containing oils (smells like black licorace) and seems to do the trick. The important part about truly getting rid of them is to thoroughly clean the environment. Vacuuming, washing, putting things in the freezer for 72 hours, giving the pillow a HOT ride in the dryer EVERY day for a while, picking ALL the eggs out, and then checking him/her daily to make sure there are no new eggs, or any that you have missed. My granddaughter got them in preschool, it took my son-in-law and daughter 8 hours to thoroughly clean the house, then they checked her daily and would always find about 3 new ones, so finally went to the other grandmother's who watched her often, and thoroughly vacuumed and cleaned there, and that was the end of them. She is 10 now and has never had them again.
