Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Hi, I have suffered with Crohn's Disease for many years, but for the past 3 years I have been looking alot into herbs to help my disease. I have tried everything, I have been on different Medications, Changed my diet, etc... But nothing has helped me as much as the herbs. I still have flare-up's, but I seem to have a better control over them. The best herb so far is Peppermint. Safeway carries an herbal tea that is just dried Peppermint leaves, it works really well. It helps with cramps and with diarhea. Also, I use dried herbs for other reasons. Wild Yam for inflammation in the intestines. Marshmallow root for healing, and Echinacea to help when the disease runs me down. But the best herb I have found for pain is Valerian Root. It smells terrible, but if the pain is severe, it will take it away almost immediately. I mix these dried herbs together and make them into a tea and drink them once a day or as needed. Also, there are some fruits and vegetables that are good to eat some that cause more pain. When the disease is at it's worse, I eat potatoes, eggs, rice and pasta. But I always make sure I take a daily vitamin, since your body will have a hard time getting all of the nutrients from the food that you do eat. Hope this information helps, please email me if you have anymore questions or if you would just like someone to talk to. Good Luck!
