You say you have pain. Describe you pain and location please. I can tell you that I have suffered a C6-C7 disc rupture. My two choices of treatment were surgery or try an injection of a steroid. I chose the injection to see if it would decrease the inflammation of the nerve that was impenged. This was successful. It took about 3-4 weeks to really take effect. The severe pain in my neck, shoulder and right arm were the first to lessen. The numbness and tingling in my index and middle finger took longer to resolve. My advise is to see about having this done. It doesn't take very long and is an outpatient procedure. I requested this procedure to be done under floroscopy where they can visualize catheter placement for the injection. Good luck Shelly R.N.
