I was in a car accident while I was pregnant with twins. I incurred severe cervical sprain (back & neck). Initially, folks were worried about the babies, however once in control..it seemed to take a lot of convincing that my back pain was related to the car accident and not because I was pregnant. Pregnancy certainly didn't help the condition. I have been dealing with at times extreme back pain now for almost 3 years (L4,L5 & S1). I'm told I have degenerative disc disease (no cure). I was 30 at the time of the accident and at times can not do alot of what I used to do. I've seen an osteopath and she has been helpful. I also take Vioxx and this has helped. The pain never really goes away and I'm very limited to what I can do now. Every now and then I forget and will do something and the cycle starts all over. I believe that even with the "slight" buldge they said I had after my MRI had to do alot with the pain and when that area gets irritated and swollen - it just starts all over. Good luck
