I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's when I was 12. I'm now 24, too. I'm taking 300 mcg of Synthroid a day. Most of the symptoms are in check, but I'm a grad student and the so called health center on campus on whom I must rely for medical services is terrible and they often fluctuate my doeses, which really throws me off. I can't wait til I finish my masters in August so I can get real health care coverage and a real endocrinologist. The symptoms I had were being chronically tired, badly depressed, my hair would fall out in chunks, I was cold all the time, and of course, I gained weight. It's not a fun disease to deal with and I often get very frustrated with it, because no matter what I do, it is very very difficult to control weight loss. I'd like to get a reply if you have a minute to see if you are experiencing similar symptoms. And don't worry about the age thing. It may be hereditary, so you may have been born with it, and you probably had itlong before you were diagnosed.
