Laura P
Phillip, congrats to you also on your surgery date... I can't offer any personal experience with the posterior approach.. both of my surgeries were anterior. My MRI's showed a complete loss of the lordotic curve with some reversal... Showed 3 levels that were deemed surgical... my neurosurg at the first surg would only do single level, so he chose the middle level where my neck was the worst. Hope was that by stabilizing that level it would help support the other 2 levels (above and below)... there was a chance that I would have to have another surgery within a year at one of the other levels, but I lasted from 1991 to 2002 before another surgery was required. You can reference the other post that I sent for Laura O... for other portions of my "experience"... also, if you have any other questions that I might be able to answer, feel free to ask. My surgeries were both in Long Beach, CA... by very good trauma neurosurgeons. I had total confidence going in, which I believe made for a better outcome... Please keep us informed of your progress... and know that we are all keeping you in our thoughts as you get ready for your surgery and throughout your recovery. Laura P.
