Laura O.
Good news!! I just received a call from the neurosurgeon's office. They had a cancellation and I get in to see him on May 13th instead of May 27th! I am so ready to just do whatever it takes so I can be on the road to recovery. I am in the Kansas City, MO area. I will be seeing a Dr. Paul Arnold at the Kansas University Medical Center. Thanks to all suggestions and lots of prayer, I am not in as bad pain as I was, just when I move my head certain ways. I also found that when I cough or sneeze very hard, my arms and hands go all tingly or completely numb and my fingers curl in. For a couple of minutes, I have no control of them. I have read everything I can find about the surgeries but haven't found anything about a congenitally narrow spinal canal. That part makes me a little nervous. I don't know how they will widen it, but if it involves lasering away bone, I'm sure it will be very sore for a while. I had that done in my right shoulder to relieve an "impingement" of the nerves and blood vessels, and was in quite a bit of pain for a while. It's much better now, but getting here was a long road. I will keep you posted about what happens after my doc visit next week. I need to start writing down questions for him as I think of them so I will be ready. Thank you all again for your input and concern.
