Thank you so much for the info. It really helps to hear from someone who's been there. Sometimes you can ask the dr. questions but he can only answer from the technical point of view, not always from the "experienced it myself" point of view. Also thanks for the heads up about flexible straws, popsicles, and headset phone. A few items to round up in the next few days. I am really not so much afraid of any of it anymore. I am surrounded by people who are praying for me and willing to help out in any way after the surgery. I have faith in my neurosurgeon's abilities. Also, the wisdom I've gained from you and the others posting here has helped tremendously! I received the official letter that was forwarded to my employer about my surgery and recovery. It states that, "...your employee, is scheduled to have a multilevel anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion. Following that surgery, she will have the following restrictions. No driving, no lifting >5#, cervical collar on when walking and riding in a car. The typical person having this surgery is out of work between 6-12 weeks depending on many factors." I guess I should ask them what the "many factors" are. Does this sound about right to you? I also need to find out if they will be keeping me overnight from Tues. when I go in at 12:15 P.M. for my pre-op, or if they are sending me back home and then come back early the next morning. Other than that, I think I am as ready as I can be for this. Again, thank you so much for the info. I am going to share this with my parents, who are very anxious about my surgery. If I don't get to post again before I go in, I will try to get back to you with post-op results ASAP. Thanks for your prayers (especially early Wed. morning). Laura O :)
