Yes their is a test that can be performed to diagnosis the epstein barr virus. It involves a nuclear test. You have to request it. You may go to my doctors web site at www.interidtulsa.com/home.htm This is the site for my current Doctor. No you don't just have to live with it. I am on a treatment program with Dr. Stanley Schwartz, Inter ID Clinic, Tulsa, OK. He is great. I was diagnosed with the Epstein Barr Virus about a year and 1/2 ago. I am taking a regimen of medication of antidepressant and 1000mcg vitamin B12 shots every other day. This was the only way I was going to get better. You have to check to make sure the pharmacy can mix the b12 shots. It has to be a compounding pharmacy. Keep in touch. I don't mind providing information on the disease. Yes it is caused by Mono. If you have had mono while you were a teenager the virus goes dormant in your body and when a stressing situation or you get sick and your immune system is lowered the Epstein Barr Virus comes out and causes all sorts of symptoms. Don't get discouraged.
