When my pain got as bad as I think yours is; the doctor gave me a blood test for the H-Pylori bacteria in the stomach. It is a common bacteria, but when it is in a large amount in the stomach; it worsens the acid pain, etc. I would suggest you ask for this test. If positive; there is a "cocktail" of 3 prescriptions in a package. It is 2 antibiotics + a higher dose of one of the antacid medications. It is a nasty combo to take (because you need to be near a bathroom...) I think it is for 2 weeks. But, it does help immensely with the acid backup pain and all of that. Believe me, I think I was as miserable as you are describing. Extra hint -- do not eat one hour before you go to bed and raise your head up as you sleep. I still do take Prilosec in the morning also, but rarely have problems. Also, I was told to take Pepsid AC just before going to bed, as needed. I also take Tagamet 2 times a day. Hope this helps.
