I wonder if your son has been receiving assistance at school through the special education/exceptional education dept. at your school. He would qualify under an emotional disability conditon or "other health impairment" category because he is diagnosed. With this programming, I would hope the school system and yourselves could develop a schedule and program in which your son could feel successful. Academically, the school should be teach him at his academic level and plan for his behavioral concerns. A program may need to be developed to teach more life skills and behavioral management strategies. An IEP team can determine what the focus of his education is to be. If he is becoming violent and harmful to himself and/or others, I, too would seek other options. I'll say a prayer for your family :).
