I read your question. I think if you are close to your son, you shouldn't send him away to school. Actually, I am appalled that a doctor suggested that. Especially now that he is going into puberty could be quite devasting to be away from his parents. Is it possible he may need a medication switch? Sometimes medications don't work as well after a while. (just like antibiotics, they lose their effectiveness.) Anyway, I suggest a wonderful book called, "The Bipolar Child." Wether it applies to your son or not, it is very insightful and the is the only book out there of it's kind. I have a daughter who was diagnosed with all of the things that your son was diagnosed with and with the proper medications she leads a normal, happy life. Of course, she still has her bad days, but what a difference.... Sincerely
