I am 26 yrs of age and dealing with it since I was 16. Yes it is very scary you think you are going to die. espescially when it gets to the point where you can hear your own heart beat in your ears and it is going so fast that you can't even count your own heart beats. Or somtimes I will be sitting there talking to friends and next thing you know I start coughing or in some amount of discomfort due to the fact I can litterally feel the palpatations and know my heart is beating wrong.. Your message grabbed my attention because your symptoms and the way you feel are exactly like mine and I wanted you to know that I can sympathize with the way you feel and what you go through when symptoms decide to hit..I am not a doctor but check with them on how to break the rythm once it starts. what doctors tell me is to lie down immediatly and to bear down. Somtimes it doesn't work but the key is to remain calm..It is very hard to do and frustratin when doctors tell you "if it were gonna kill you it would have done it by now". I don't care what anyone says, you feel like your heart is gonna explode everytime... Hope this helps
