Heart arrythmia, Mitral Valve prolapse

I have Mitral Valve Prolapse also and one thing that made mine worse during pregnancy was excessive weight gain (over 30 lbs) and stress. I've had MVP for years and I've come to just ignore it for the most part. It is usually harmless. The biggest influence on how bad mine gets is stress. When I am under a lot of stress, it definitely gets worse. Adding a lot of weight MAY make the symptoms worse, but I don't think it will be dangerous. It's more aggravating than dangerous USUALLY. Several months ago I had a few symptoms that were quite upsetting to me. One night I lost sight in one eye for just a brief moment, so of course I thought my problem was in my eye. My opthalmologist could find nothing wrong with my eyes. I went to the cardiologist for a routine checkup and he said that MVP can cause temporary vision loss. It IS scary, but only temporary. There's a lot to learn about MVP, so I suggest you try to find out what you can. My cardiologist recommended I take TOPROL if the palpitations bothered me too much but I don't want to be tied to any medication and I do just fine without drugs. Hope this helps you to not be too concerned. I hated to bring up the eye thing, but you really need to know some of the symptoms in case you ever experience them. Most likely you will not, but you should know them nevertheless. Good luck!
