Hi, I was diagnosed w/MVP at 24 yrs old & had my daughter when I was 28. The episodes will come & go, with no certain predictability. Stress will sometimes bring it on & other times when I am stressed it never acts up. Who knows? They placed me on a drug once (Inderal) that made me feel drug dowm all the time. They really can't do anything with it unless your valve gets a large leak & regurgation. That is less likely to ever happen. But if it does get to that point, it can be repaired surgically. The best thing you can do is have it checked yearly or bi-yearly with an echogram. A TEE can also be used but is more invasive (they go down your throat). I have only had that done once because of some other health problems. Good luck & congratulations on your pregnancy. Don't stress too much about the MVP. Just include that in any further health histories given & make sure your dentist knows so you can get antibiotics before each dental visit, to protect your heart against infection and endocarditus.
