Laura O.
I was sitting here checking out the forum when I wondered if my "posting friend", Laura P., would still check here for news. If you are out there, I was just going to say hello and Happy New Year! I still have not been released from the dr. I go back again on Feb. 17 for another checkup. He has since ordered an MRI of my low back to see if my continuing problems are still radiating from the cervical spine or if there is something else going on lower in my back. They have increased my dosage of Neurontin to 300 mg./3x daily now. The feeling has returned to my right hand, but the other things are still the same. I received a letter in the mail on Sept. 22 from Social Security denying me my disability, and then the very next day, I received a letter from my employer saying that I was hereby terminated because my FMLA time was up and I had not returned to my job. I went through a period of depression for a while. All screwed up from surgery, unemployed and denied disability...BAM!! So, I contacted a lawyer to help me appeal my disability and decided that my former job was nothing to lose sleep about anyway. I still hobble around most days but some are worse than others. I can do stairs now...just slowly. If I stand or sit for very long, my low back tingles really bad and I can't feel my left leg much. It makes standing and/or walking a real challenge sometimes. I am also having a hard time keeping the temperature regulated in my left side. Since the onset of winter weather, my family informs me frequently that I feel very cold to them. I don't really notice because I still don't feel temp. changes in anything. So I feel fine to me, but everyone else says I feel extremely cold. But when I cover up, I get an odd tingling or burning sensation in my foot and up my leg a bit, and sometimes in my hand and arm. My incision bothers me. I began developing a keloid along the entire length of the incision and it stings frequently. I quit using the Mederma my husband got for me because it seemed to sting worse when I applied it. Anyway, I will try to post when I can or when I get new info. for you. Take care, everyone.
