vioxx and other nsaids only mess up your gut and are not good for your body. most people have spasms from lack of mg/ca or potassium. you do have to be careful with potassium because it has a narrow window and can cause heart arrhythmias with too much or too little. magnesium is generally safe to take 400-600 mg/day unless you have severe kidney disease in which case your body doesn't eliminate minerals like it should. you want to address mineral deficiencies if they are there because they will only get worse. outside manipulations or massage should only be taken after you have tried improving your mineral status. Also note that magnesium blood serum levels can be totally normal and you can be deficient in your tissue stores so don't go by that to determine if you may be low in magnesium. Also recommended to take multivitamin to cover manganese and other trace mineral deficiencies that can occur. millie
