I had my two month appt with my rheumatologist this morning at Bethesda Naval. She had an intern working with her and he sat down and took a complete history of what I am taking - where I am in the pain level etc. Then my doctor came in and we discussed the "flu" or whatever I had last week when my bp dropped to 105 and I was running a temp of 102. She said that when you get down to really low levels of prednisone you have to be extremely careful because it takes awhile for the adrenal glands to kick in again. Did you know you could die if you just abruptly stopped the prednisone. She also said that after a year off the prednisone any surgry or other stress factors you may have in your life, the attending physcian should know you had been on prednisone. We have decided I would tape to 3 1/2 mg prednisone for the next two months and see how it goes. Also, a good multiple vitamin, calcium and or premarin for bone health. I can't say enough about this doctor - she takes her time - she does a really thorough review and she makes her evaluations very clear. Also had another blood test to see where the sed rate is sitting. It's been normal for quite some time. Hope these discussions are helpful to all of you. Kayva
