Hysterectomy

Message 15 of 23 Previous Next

Yes, I had a hysterectomy a little over a year ago and I am absolutely thrilled that I did it. I suffered from really heavy periods for about six years before I went ahead with it. The doc also recommended me to take my ovaries out because of cysts, etc. The reason for the hystrectomy was fibroid tumors. They tried the birth control pill but that helped only for six months and then back to heavy bleeding. Its hard to find positive infomation regarding hystrectomies and there are so many horror stories out there. But for me and the friends I know who had it done, we are all thrilled. The only thing is that I must take a hormone pill everyday or else I get menopause symptoms which are hell. I also take multivitamin and a calcium tablet. Its no problem whatsover, especially after all that bleeding, cramping, weakness, and inconvenience I experienced before. I just love it and feel so free. The only regret I have is that I never bought stock in the tampon and sanitary napkin companies, haha. Take care and hope whatever decision you make works for you. Nadejda PS) My sister opted to have her fibroids taken out via lazer in the interventional radiology department and she was great for about a year and now her problems are starting up again. I have a friend who had that done and she is still fine.
