cervical herniation

I'm glad you posted! :) I, too, have cervical herniated discs, pain in shoulders and numbness in my left arm and hand. I, too, have had the injections - they work very well. The problem is that they may or may not last several months. You may have to go back for more (I know how painful that is, but it's better than the pain you have before it). Your doctor should send you for physical therapy as well. There they will give you exercises to help strengthen the muscles in your neck and shoulders - thereby relieving some or all of the pain. Try standing in a doorway, with hands on either side of the doorway, and take a step forward, putting the other leg in back of you (bend first knee down) and putting some pressure on your shoulders - works wonderful for the pain in your shoulders! Also, and this can bring you great comfort, buy a long gel microwavable heat pad w/velcro, heat it up in microwave for two minutes and then put it around your neck (feels so good!). If you work in front of a computer all day - you may have to find another job; as this only makes the pain 100 times worse (I had to quit mine). Good luck to you, and I hope you feel better! :)
