I am very familiar with the pain you are going thru because I had the same thing. I could not believe a heel pain could hurt so much! Never heard of the treatment you described. I got a couple of cortisone shots which were painful and did not help. What did help were heel cushions but the ones I got were recommended by the orthopedist and cost $50 a pair. They are called viscospot and you can get them from healthy legs and feet too. I did not want to by them at the doctors office at the time because I thought what makes these better than the drug store kind. It's the fact that the "blue spot" is towards the inside of the cushion not the middle. Sadly, these are the ones that work the best. Also, you need arch support. Dr Scholls sports advantage insoles with the viscospot is what I use. Also, I got some physical therapy. I was a super couch potato at the time (about a year ago) My insurance company paid for 6 weeks and I could not believe the difference. I then joined a gym and have alleviated the heel problem and lots of other pain I had as a 52 year old women. FYI, the orthopedist never recommended the phyical therapy--I sought it out on my own--he's not my doctor anymore! I feel for you having to wear heals. I do not and never do. I can were athletic shoes every day. You of course need to stay out of the heels as much as possible. Next, you need to constantly stretch the achilles tendon and calf muscles. There are two specific ways to do this that you can surely find on the internet or thru a friend who works out. Of course, I was assuming you do not excercise, so pardon me if I am wrong and you know what I am talking about. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck. I've been there. Marion
