Just my opinion, but before you send your son away maybe you should get a parent advocate to help you deal with the school. In N.Y. the school has to appoint one to you. I don't know where you live but try calling SPAN (973)642-8100. Also look into a group called CHADD. My cousin was placed into a remedial learning class in his school and is doing great. It's not that they (ADD children) don't care it's that they are too easily distracted. Their brain does not function the way ours does. It could be any sound or florescent light that throws them into a tail-spin. Also, try reading a book by Dr. Ben F. Feingold, "Why your child is hyperactive". It is not soley about hyperactiveness but about the behavioral problems associated with ADD and the possible link to severe food allergies. Good luck.
