I went to a neurologist because I had had shingles on my face 16 yrs ago and was still getting a little pain. She didn't believe I had shingles ( very few blisters, lucky) She wanted me tested for a stroke with dye MRI and the works. This was before she even did a neuro workup. I run 4-6 miles a day, train and jump horses, but she scared me to death. Did the MRI. She slapped the films up and said "you must have a spinal tap, I suspect MS" I had one lesion on my brain. Changed drs immediately, spent a month waiting to get in to a good one. He did the workup, did not suggest a spinal and basically told me I had probably had this lesion all my life. I am 44. I do still run and get pains in my knee and lower leg. Now I am debating whether this is a MS sympton or overdoing the running. This dr. also told me that the herpes virus (shingles) can cause a brain lesion. Who knows?
