Hi Charlotte, I'm so sorry to hear about your bursitis. The reason you can't find a doctor to do a bursectomy is because the operation is rarely helpful. Some people end up even worse! I've had bursitis since June 03 also and your stoy sounds identical to mine. . .including buying a new soft mattress. If you've only had one cortisone injection, you could try another one. Also you should be on an anti-inflammatory such as Bextra. This ailment has completely changed my life. I've been to many many doctors. They don't have anything for me.
