Susan--Great to see your messsage, but sorry for your situation. I'm going down the same path as you. I'm beginning to see that even in this day of "modern medicine" there is evidently nothing out there for people with this chronic condition. If cortisone doesn't help you're out of luck! They tell you that you have bursitis and go the usual route of treatment, then when you don't get better (over many many painful months and lots of $$$) they tell you it's unlikely you're going to get better because: "its been going on too long"--duh!!! I too feel like I'm 90 years old most the time; I'm 55. I used to be a peppy, active and involved 50+!! Also, it's hard for people to understand what the problem is. . .pain in your butt!! Ha, Ha!! People can't truly realize how much this impacts a persons quality of life! I'm basically now completely housebound. Because I've had to lay on my right side so much (can't lay on the left or on my back)now the right side is also involved. I believe it is something systemic--immune system on a rampage or something.A while back, I seemed to improve slightly for about a week and a half; then had a set-back (why?)and can hardly walk to the bathroom now! If I just could understand WHAT IS GOING ON and WHY it WILL NOT heal I'd be able to cope better!!! If you ever want to "talk" feel free to email me epiplastr@joimail.com I'm really not usually as "frantic" as I may sound. I'm just so very frustrated right now. Oh yes-- if I ever do find something that really helps I'll be sure to put it on this board. Do you know, is it possible to ever really truly get over this or do people who are "chronic" just have ups and downs in the severity for the rest of their lives??? Chris
