I have suffred from gout for sometime. Most doctors do not attach much importance to diet. They say it is a contributary factor. Dieticians recommend to avoid alcoholic drinks, particularly red wine and organ meats. They also recommend to reduce the intake of red meats, shell fish and some fatty fish. Many sufferers recommend cherry juice which they say absorbs uric acid. most vegetables except perhaps asparagus are OK. Lentils are also to be avoided. Drink a lot of water and rest the affected limb, often feet. Alopurinol for reducing the uric acid and anti inflammories like Indomethecin traditional medicines. Good luck
