It's always good to avoid organ meat...wild meat...and YES TURKEY IS A WILD MEAT..and one of the worse you could eat with gout... food rich is purines is what you avoid..but they don't put that on the cans.. BUT..REMEMBER DIET does not control gout...not real gout... certain foods USED TO BE thought to trigger an attack...but the real problem is that GOUT IS A METABOLIC DISEASE... the body usually is OVER PRODUCING uric acid.. and has to get rid of it.. it changes into crystals that literally shred your organs and viens..arteries.. GOUT can be everywhere the blood flows... but felt first in ussually the big toes joint...or feet.. I've had it on my ears.. YOU CAN DIE FROM GOUT... EUREMIC POSIONING>>. if you ignore the DR... if you listen to those "well meaning " folks who would tell you diet is all that is needed... NEVER GO OFF THE MEDS>> you do damage to yourself... YES>. drugs like alluperinol can cause problems.. BUT that is why they check and do a liver panel every so often.(simple blood test) also people have a hard time going on alluperinol... a lot of general practioners like to just give you a precription for 300 mg tablets and say take one a day... give you stomach distress and direaha...you toss them out..and don't go back..right? YOU should be treated by a rheumatologist..cause it is a form of arthritis... and...ALLUPERINOL SHOULD NEVER BE STARTED AT 300 MG... the recommended way is to start with 100 mg..1 a day..for so long... then 2 a day.... finally 3 a day.... over months until you can tolerate just one 300 mg tablet a day... and always take it with food... not just a salad either... with a sandwich...or meal... I used to find that it was more likely to upset me if i took it with a lite meal.. i took mine mid day not morning.. do not take them alone at bedtime..and you need to drink lots of water .. or liquids... don't go without fluids.. look up gout and rheumatology.org a medical web site.. betty
