I had severe cervical dysplasia when I was around 23. I asked the doctor, because I was trying to get pregnant, if that could be the reason I wasn't conceiving. He said no, that people with full blown cancer can still have children. I had a conization (that's what they did back then - 20 years ago) and I think I had Class III dysplasia or Class IV - anyway they did their thing at Stanford and I have not had any recurrence. In the beginning I had to have paps every 3-6 months (can't remember) and gradually it changed to once a year. Another lady I know had the same thing, but had already had 2 children and chose a hysterectomy. It was not recommended by her doctor. By the way, I now have an 18 year old daughter.
