I have had a black and blue left toenail for a couple of years now and was told by a nail technician that it is a fungus. I am using Fungi Nail now (I put it UNDER the nail) but always keep the nail covered with nail polish. Now the nail is lifting up from the bed. I was recently in Barbados where a nail technician told me about Enonoderm. She said it cured her fungus. I never had a chance to get it though, and it's only sold in Barbados; you can't get it in the States. My doctor told me that nail fungi are not dangerous and made light of it.
