My husband was diagnosed with PR several years ago and placed on steroids for 6 months. His symptoms come and go esp. the carpal tunnel syndrome and multliple joint pain that goes along with it. I am afraid you will have to learn to cope with this. Due to his weak heart, he can no longer take steroids as they interfer with his cardiac drugs. The carpal tunnel is relieved with braces to the wrist. Try that. Get good ones from your doctor. Not the ones in the drug stores. Also, he found out after he does his cardiac walk in the morning, the stiffness is relieved that he wakes up with every am. Work with your doctor to try any method to not be on long term steroids as they will do more damage in the long run. However, DO NOT stop your steroid medication abruptly. This is a no, no! Only your doctor can wean you from it.
