Hi, I had a cervical fusion in 1997. Had severe pain at work. Found out that I had a herniated disc in my neck. I needed to have a 3 level surgery. Was advised to have a couple of different opinions. Got 4 of them. 3 doctors said they didn't think I would make it cause for me, it involved the spinal cord but the 4th doctor talked about after surgery. I wore a halo for 3 months. What helped me with surgery is having a positive attitude. One of the doctors told me that if I go into the operation with a negative attitude then there is a good chance I wouldn't make it. But being I always been a positive person, I thought I had a pretty good chance on life. I did and lived to talk about it. Had surgery on C3,4,5,6,7. So my only advice to you is to go into the operation with positiveness then you will be fine. Because my operation was about 12 hours long, I was fused in a year. Your operation sounds like a piece of cake. I feel healing time will be 3 months. But try not lifting heavy things. I have lots of limitations and it put me out of work the rest of my life. I am only 58 yrs old. Good luck and think positive. Cheers, Geri
