i've worked for 2 E.N.T. DOCTORS for 5yrs. we have had alot of patients that have had this sx. children and adults. luckly, i have not had to have this sx myself, because this is a painful procedure. plan on being off work/school for about 1-2wks. our doctor tells patients it is the most painful surgery he does do to patients. however, assuming you are having this surgery because of reoccuring tonsil infx's.......after the healing period, you will not regret having it done for the fact you will not have the reoccuring infx's with pain anymore. the voice defiently does not change after a tonsillectomy. just take your pain medication, drink lots of fluids, and take it easy. after 3-5 days, the pain should improve everyday. good luck.
