I had a tonsillectomy a year ago, I was 23 at the time. I dont want to scare you anymore than your doctors have, but my expirence was very painful, and my recovery took about a month before I had no pain or discomfort. I was out of work for the same period of time. Rest and take the medication your doctor gives you for the pain. A ice pack around your neck will do wonders for the pain.
