My Grandson is 6 months old and has severe Gastrosophageal Reflux. He is under the care of a pediatric gastro internist. My daughter was given no assistance with breast feeding and/or special care instructions because she is a first-time Mother and everything was attributed to colic. He lost weight and became dehydrated. The specialist prescribed Bethanocol and Zantac. The Bethanocol helped tremendously with his projectile vomiting. He is gaining weight and developing normally. However, he has one on one care and is held upright for at least one and one-half hours after a feeding and his formula is thickened with rice cereal. The specialist also advised to put him on his tummy when sleeping. Babies with this condition are at risk for damage to their esophagus. Please get your baby to a doctor who specializes in this disease.
