I'm afraid I can't diffuse your fears and concerns. I had 3 disks removed and fused with bone from my hip and 4" metal plating with 3 screws to hold in place in April 1996. It didn't help the pain and numbness in my arms and hands which continues to gradually gets worse. Now C-7 is out of alignment and I'm facing more surgery. Why do you need the surgery? My advice is to certainly get a second, and even a third opinion, before having surgery. Also, ask many questions; i.e., post surgery prognosis, therapy, expected time of recovery, long-term expectations, etc. Good Luck!!!
