I had a hip replacement five years ago. I am doing very well other than occassional discomfort when it rains a lot, thank goodness I live in Arizona. Full recovery is about 6 weeks, however you will be up and walking the next day, very slowly and not a long way but it is part of your physical therapy to get things moving. It is painful for the first week however, I found the pain prior to the surgery much worse. I wondered why I waited and suffered so long. You will too! I have a pretty normal life, I don't snow and water ski anymore but now I jet ski and swim a lot. I don't think any surgery should be done without getting several excellent surgeon referrals and opinions. Good Luck.
