My father has just had a hip replacement at age 80. 6 weeks later, he is able to walk down the road and round the block. He had pain in the first few days, and found not being able to lie on his side restrictive, but it has been a relatively easy kind of surgery to recover from. His doctor has recently done a successful op on a 92 year old!
