Just wanted you to know that my son had what we think was CMV last summer. He became sick the end of May and was probably back to normal at 80% by February. It took a long, long time. He ran 104-105 fever for about a month, than ran 102-103 on and off for about another 2 months. Extremely achy and sore muscles and extremely tired. He has just started football practice as a freshman (a year and 3 months after he tested positive for it) but still tires easily and gets sick easily. (he's had the stomach flu twice already this summer). My advice - make sure you don't rush it and make sure you get enough rest. We make him go to bed at 9:00 during the school year (which he hates as a 14 yr. old) but he needs his rest. If he starts over doing it, he gets run down quite fast. At the time he was so sick, he was in the hospital about a week - they sent him home with "a fever of unknown origin" but he did test positive for CMV and had the symptoms. I think by the time we took him in, the infection was in the later stage and the "M" cells they were looking for were not there anymore???? Anyhow, it's a long, long road, but it does slowly get better. He lost 17 lbs. during the whole thing. Good luck, and take it easy - I know it is very hard to find any info on it!!
