I am searching for some help on my diagnosis. First one in Feb.,99 was M.S., then second opinion was TM. I am numb from the waist down, the tight band I keep reading about is around my knees, and I am number from knees to ankles. I'm really not in any pain unless I overdo, than I get a back ache. I do have trouble walking sometimes, but I am not and never have been paralyzed. I had extreme fatigue when the numbness first happened (Dec.99), and that lasted until about the middle of July, but now I feel much better. I was taking pain pill for my back aches, but it was a chewable and it made my tongue numb and messed with my taste buds, so I quit taking them. I did have a rash at first, but that also went away. When the neurologist I got the second opinion from, told me the diagnosis, after having me go through more testing, the only thing he told me about this was "if it hurts, stop doing it", and "if you think exercise will help, it won't. I have been reading everything I can find on the net and so far I haven't read about anyone with the same symptoms. It seems like all the people I read about are paralyzed. Does anyone have a suggestion what I should do at this point. My husband and I just retired and my General Practioner would recommend anything we ask, so I was wondering if I should get in touch with Johns Hopkins TM Center and go there. I am open to any suggestions at this point. Thank You.
