Patty, My daughter has long hair and has gone through lice as well. If you are like me, you just feel dirty and unclean. My daughter's cleaned up with NIX, and then came back. (This was over the Christmas holiday, so I knew my house was clean.) After returning to daycare, I found another. A close friend at her daycare kept "reinfesting" her. At home, although it may seem quite costly, throw away all hairbrushes, combs, and accessories. The nits can remain dormant for about a year. I had success by running my combs through the dishwasher. However, if they keep returning, I'd wonder about the hair stuff even if you don't see any. Also, watch the seams of hats and winter jackets, etc. Best of luck. See a physician if it gets out of hand.
